Strengthening Communities, One Home at a Time

How HHR Can Help

The AT HOMe Program

Healthy Home Resources offers the AT HOMe Program (Asthma Trigger Home Evaluation Program) to Pittsburgh residents. This program helps families to find and eliminate the asthma triggers that are in their homes. People who qualify may receive free trigger control supplies and other valuable incentives for children and their parents.

The AT HOMe Program is designed to deal with a variety of objects in your home environment that can trigger asthma attacks. Eliminating or lessening those triggers can mean fewer attacks and a healthier life for your child. Over the course of four to six months Healthy Home Resources will provide a total of five in-home visits and a follow-up phone call.

First, Healthy Home Resources works with the family using an asthma assessment, designed to help determine the child's triggers. Allergy testing with community partners is also an option for families to determine if a child's asthma is linked with certain allergies. Then the staff will perform an in-home assessment of the home to determine what triggers are present, inspecting for allergens, mold, pollen, air quaility and household pests. With the triggers determined, Healthy Home Resources will provide personalized education, and determine if the family quailifes a free HEPA Vacuum cleaner, air purifier, dehumidifier, cleaning supplies, and more, valued at over $1,000. Also available for qualified participants is free services such as air duct and carpet cleaning, as well as pest management services. Grocery store gift cards are awarded as incentives throughout the course of the program.

This program is currently available to those families with children with asthma between the ages of 4-17 living in certified eligible areas.
